DREW + KRISTA

PITTSBURGH ENGAGEMENT

Drew and Krista were set up by a mutual friend who happened to be a coworker of Krista's. The two met for a casual date at Bites N' Brews in Shadyside. The twist, however, is that Krista was under the impression she was only meeting her girlfriend, she was quite surprised to be meeting Drew instead.

The two ended up having pizza and ice cream with friends and then decided to stop for margaritas on their way home, they really ended up closing down the bar on a Monday night in early August! As Drew walked Krista home he mustered up the courage to ask for her phone number, and here they are four years later happily engaged and planning their wedding.

Before we dish about the wedding, lets talk proposal...

The proposal came as a complete shock to Krista, seeing that in the months prior to popping the question Drew had sent out clues leading her in many different directions. Drew says that he asked her dad's permission a week prior, and he agreed to keep it top secret. Drew had a tradition of giving Krista a cookbook for each holiday they celebrated together, as she collects them. On Christmas morning Drew and Krista celebrated their own private holiday before joining their families. As Krista opened her new cookbook entitled "The Newlywed Cookbook" she peered up to see Drew on one knee. He asked her to read the inscription to the book which read "will you marry me" and she broke into tears, then laughter, and finally hyperventilation. All the while Drew knelt in front of her watching her emotions. She finally let it all set in and responded with a "yes!" The couple promptly popped some champagne and called their families to share the news.

Drew knew within the first 6 weeks that Krista was the one for him. Drew comes from a large family in Southern Virginia, his mom being one of thirteen kids and his dad one of six. BIG family! Krista fits in perfectly. Krista's mom knew after their first date that Drew was "the one".  Krista is the baby of the family and they are sad to let her go, however, they couldn't be happier or more excited to be planning a big Italian wedding.

Drew + Krista will be married on Saturday, November 19, 2016. The ceremony will take place at Saint Mary of the Mount and the reception at Hotel Monaco. Guests can look forward to great food, drinks, dancing the tarantella and like all Pittsburgh weddings, a table full of homemade cookies.

The couple is planning a honeymoon in Lake Como, Italy and hoping to visit France and Switzerland while abroad. The duo is excited to build a life together and having one grocery cart when shopping!
